With over 10 years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), I have built my career on compassionate, patient-centered care and a deep commitment to improving the lives of others. Throughout the past decade, I have supported patients across diverse healthcare settings, providing hands-on care, emotional support, and advocacy during some of their most vulnerable moments.

My experience as a CNA has strengthened my clinical skills, sharpened my ability to anticipate patient needs, and reinforced the importance of dignity, respect, and empathy in every interaction. Currently, I am pursuing my nursing degree and will be entering my final year of nursing school in Fall 2026. bring 10 years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant with a diverse clinical background spanning both acute care and long-term care settings. For three years, I worked in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), primarily on the burn unit, where I assisted with complex wound care and supported critically ill patients with high-acuity needs. This role required strong attention to detail, emotional resilience, and the ability to provide compassionate care during some of the most challenging moments of a patient’s recovery.

During my time in the ICU, I was frequently floated to other specialty units, including cardiology, urology, neurology, emergency services, and behavioral health. These experiences strengthened my adaptability, broadened my clinical knowledge, and enhanced my ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.

For the past seven years, I have worked in the nursing home setting, providing long-term, patient-centered care to geriatric residents. In this role, I have developed strong relationships with residents and families, supported activities of daily living, monitored changes in condition, and contributed to maintaining dignity and quality of life for those in my care. This combination of critical care and long-term care experience has shaped me into a well-rounded, compassionate healthcare professional with a deep commitment to patient advocacy and safety.

My continued passion for healthcare and dedication to professional growth have led me to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) at Malcolm X College. Building on 10 years of hands-on experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, I made the intentional decision to advance my education in order to expand my clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and ability to provide comprehensive patient care.

I am currently finishing my first year in the ADN program, where I have strengthened my foundation in nursing theory, evidence-based practice, pharmacology, and patient-centered care. My prior experience in both ICU and long-term care settings has enriched my academic journey, allowing me to connect real-world clinical insight with classroom learning.

Pursuing my ADN reflects my long-term commitment to growth within the healthcare profession and my desire to continue advocating for safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. This step forward represents not only academic advancement but also a deepened responsibility to serve patients with greater knowledge, leadership, and skill.
