Aspiring Directed Scholars Program: Research miRNA response to Folic Acid during embryogenesis of C. elegans. Hypothesize miRNA associations with folate & methionine cycle enzymes. Culture 4 generations of N2 and CB C. elegans. Design primer. Extract & validate RNA purity via spectrophotometry. Quantify miRNA expression via rt-qPCR. Compose scientific posters. Present at annual EXPO

Perry Outreach Program: 1 in 40 selected students for a one-day career exploration in orthopedic surgery. Perform hands-on mock orthopedic surgeries: external fixation, surgical stitches on pig feet, intramedullary nailing on the femur & tibia, casting, fracture plating & knee ligament reconstruction. Network with local medical students, orthopedic surgeons & engineers.

Health Science Immersion Program (HSIP): A 9-week program for selected low-income students to explore science career paths via guest speakers’ presentations. Topics range from cancer, anatomy, neuroscience, standard research procedures to neurology. Conclude with a group project that researches differences in stress responsivity in adolescent and adult rats after repeated restraint. 

Evergreen chapter of Youth Movement Against Alzheimer’s (YMAA) - Secretary (10th), Vice President (11th), President (12th): Recruit 30+ members. Record minute notes. Manage school paperwork. Hold educational workshops & monthly meetings as a Certified Brain Health Educator by YMAA. Raised $100+. Coordinate with Ivy Park Memory Care to channel 10+ volunteers to write letters, play piano & interact with 140+ seniors. 

Division 12 South Key Club - Publicist: Manage social media accounts with 900+ followers. Design website. Create 50+ graphics & manuals. Design lanyards & key chains for fundraisers. Orchestrate Officer Training Conference to train 30+ editors, publicists, & historians from 12 high schools’ Key Clubs about visual etiquette, newsletter standards & effective social media management.

Regional Medical Center - Junior Volunteer: 230+ volunteer hours. Shadow surgeons in operating room. Deliver blood/urine samples in the lab. Discharge 40+ patients. Conduct post-discharge calls. Collect hand-hygiene data for all 4 floors. Restock linen in the emergency room. Translate for families. Respond to patients’ phone calls in the ICU. Escort visitors. Deliver meal trays to patients.

Ve Nguon Vietnamese Language School - Teacher Assistant: Assist with planning weekly lessons for 20+ students of age 6 to 10. Grade worksheets & tests. Enter grades & export reports quarterly for parents. Administer oral & listening exams. Help students with spelling, pronunciation, reading poems & singing Vietnamese songs. Choreograph performances for the class’s annual spring shows. 

Claudia Rossi’s campaign - Intern: Acquire proficiency in using Mailchimp. Responsible for designing, writing, publishing weekly emails & newsletters that detailed Claudia's recent endorsements, community engagements, phone bank & fundraiser. Design banners & flyers. Attend weekly meetings to coordinate upcoming events & allocate tasks.
