I am a seasoned and innovative leader with the technical and interpersonal skills to excel in a leadership position. With a background in electrical and computer engineering alongside a doctorate in biomedical engineering; my education and skills are cross discipline. This spans physics, math, hardware, software, anatomy, physiological and clinical aspects of research, education and development. I have over 20 years of experience with a diverse portfolio that includes working with congress, industry, academia, patient & hospital organizations at both the national and international levels.
In one of my previous positions, as a Director of Research in Radiology, I focused on creating an infrastructure that would allow the physicians and I to grow and develop basic, clinical and translational brain imaging research, technology and education. This included developing a sustainable undergraduate and medical student research internship program, educational seminars and mentorship infrastructure. I was able to achieve this through strategic leadership and planning which included securing internal & regional resources, and building multi-institute & industry collaborations.
I then became part of the university faculty for Medical Imaging in Biomedical Engineering. During this time, I focused on developing a graduate research program and implementing an academic vision in accordance with Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). This included establishing two research labs, revitalizing, and sustaining a graduate (MS & PhD) Medical Imaging Program. I developed a curriculum and taught the following courses: Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Medicine, Medical Image Processing, Computation using MATLAB, Advanced Medical Imaging (Modalities), and Clinical Engineering in the Developing World.
