About Muhammet Akar:
I have twelve years of experience working in the education sector. I graduated from Karadeniz Technical University in 2012 with a bachelor’s in Science Education. I have worked in several different countries around the world for two years—in Uganda—and four years—in Cambodia. In Odessa, Texas, I have been teaching for the past three years. In my professional life, I have taught science, math, and chemistry. I had a lot of kids who needed special accommodations, so I always intended to pursue a career in special education. With a 3.9 GPA, I earned my master's degree from the University of Texas Permian Basin in 2022. I have excellent communication and writing skills, which are essential for event organizing, thanks to my master's degree. However, I also gained a lot of practical event organizing expertise through extracurricular activities while I was still in school.
Dyslexia and ADHD are the conditions with which I am most familiar. I had numerous opportunities to interact with students who had both of the two most prevalent learning difficulties because I worked in a school system where they were both prevalent. I have experience working with students who have developmental delays and the autism spectrum disorder in my current position as a school teacher.
The laws and regulations governing special education that are relevant to students with disabilities are something I am quite familiar with. I have been tasked with making sure that all applicable state and federal rules concerning special education services are followed in my current position as a classroom teacher. I worked closely with students who had disability to make sure their rights were upheld and that they got the help and accommodations they needed. I have also participated in professional development trainings on special education law and routinely keep up with any developments in this field. I have a thorough awareness of the legal obligations related to offering students with disabilities high-quality educational services because to my expertise.
I am completely at ease teaching students of all ages. I enjoy it because I get to learn from each child, which is why I do it. I have experience working with kids as young as three and teens as old as sixteen. I have discovered that my strategy works for both age groups. For instance, I tend to use more visual resources, like flashcards, when working with younger students. I rely on older kids' capacity for conceptual complexity when working with them.
Forging connections with families are, in my opinion, the most crucial element of my job as an educator because it allows me to better understand the particular circumstances of each student. To be able to offer advice that will be helpful to the child, I need to have a complete understanding of both the classroom and the home environment. It might be dyslexia, for instance, if a student struggles with reading but trouble in math. They will receive the greatest education possible if we act quickly to address this issue.
Seeing students flourish is something I am deeply committed to. My objective has always been to find ways to assist students who are having difficulty in school, and I have worked with many of them. I have created plans for raising academic performance and test scores in previous roles. I am committed to working in partnership with teachers and parents to make sure that every student has the help they require because I recognize the value of effective teamwork.
