Muhammad Sarim Asrar

I am a passionate Data Scientist with a strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, and data analysis. I specialize in extracting actionable insights from complex data to drive strategic decision-making. With hands-on experience in Python, SQL, and modern data science tools, I have worked on projects ranging from predictive modeling to natural language processing. I’m particularly passionate about solving real-world problems with data, constantly learning, and staying updated with industry trends. I am currently working as a Research Assistant at the Research Foundation of CUNY (RFCUNY), J. Max Bond Center (Feb 2025 – Present), where I streamline data collection processes and develop LLM-powered workflows to support urban planning projects. Prior to this, I served as a College Assistant at The City College of New York Multimedia Center (Feb 2024 – Present), managing and maintaining academic web content to ensure accurate and accessible information for students and faculty. I also completed a Data Analytics Virtual Internship at KPMG Australia (Jul 2021 – Aug 2021), where I worked on data wrangling, exploratory data analysis, and visualization to uncover customer behavior insights.

I am pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science Engineering at The City College of New York (expected June 2025), where I’ve gained expertise in machine learning, NLP, and data analytics with a current GPA of 3.822. In addition, I completed a Data Science Bootcamp from MIT Professional Education via Great Learning in August 2024. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, graduating in June 2023 with a CGPA of 3.56, and was awarded the Rector’s Gold Medal for the best final year project.
