Mona Qafaiti

Hello, my name is Mona Qafaiti and I am a 27 year old woman trying to pursue a career that involves helping children reach their goals, whether that be academically or mentally, or both. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree and my Mild/Moderate Teaching Credential from Cal State Long Beach and now I am trying hard to find a career within a school district; either as a teacher, social worker, or counselor. 

In my spare time, I love to involve myself around the arts; music, drawing, singing, song-writing, or painting. I'd like to believe I'm a very active person who sets goals each day. I go to the gym almost everyday, I love to go on bike rides and walks, and generally just enjoy and prefer to stay active rather than sitting at home!

While working on my teaching credentials, I got a long term substitute job at a continuation school in Santa Ana Unified School District. I was told I was only needed for a month or two, but nobody was applying to fill in the job. So, I ended up staying the whole 2022-2023 academic school year. Even more so, the school asked me to return for the summer session so my last day at Lorin Griset Academy was June 14, 2023. 

While I was there, I managed to create an environment for my students to feel safe in and to come in whenever they needed a break from life. I started a Cinema Club for the students to have a space in the school to have their lunch and sit with friends while watching the movie of the day. As any other teacher, I created lesson plans, stayed for after school tutoring, assigned homework and tests, and was in charge of grading all the work/determining if a student is to pass or not. Aside from the physical work, I was always collaborating with neighboring teachers about specific students and working together to combine lesson plans and project ideas.

I graduated with my BA in 2019 and just this year in 2023, I completed my teaching credential program and got the Mild/Moderate Teaching Credential. I hope to use this credential soon and get a job as an Elementary school teacher or counselor of any grade.
