Molly Hand

Driven political science major with a solid foundation in Research, critical thinking and communication. Experienced in government and nonprofit sectors, with a proven track record of sucsessfully managing and completing projects and initiatives. Currently seeking opportunities to explore various areas of law and develop a deeper understanding of legal specialties. 

Through my various work experiences, I have served in retail, childcare, and held internships in government. I have found all these positions to be quite different, yet all have been very rewarding for my professional development.

Working in retail at T.J. Maxx for about four years has taught me the importance of consistency and communication. I've learned how to effectively interact with customers, manage my department, and handle difficult situations.

Uniquely, one of my roles was serving as a unit leader during the summer of 2024, where I was responsible for overseeing the counselors at camp and evaluating their performance with the campers. Having previously held the position of counselor for the two summers prior, being promoted to this position offered me a refreshing take and offered me a foundation in leadership skills. Being a Unit leader meant I managed issues that my counselors could not resolve and forced me to be organized and effective  with how I managed my staff.

Lastly, my internships at The Westchester County District Attorney's Office and The New York Civil Liberties Union provided me with valuable insights into the workings of public office and solidified my interest in studying law. While at the NYCLU, I spent a day lobbying at the New York State Capitol, where I had the opportunity to speak with state representatives and urge them to support a specific bill. This experience boosted my confidence in public speaking and deepened my understanding of lobbying and the realities of our legislative system. My time at the District Attorney's Office was pivotal; it truly exemplified how public law and prosecution operate. I had the chance to shadow several Assistant District Attorneys and even interviewed the sitting Westchester County District Attorney, Miriam Rocah.

At Binghamton University, I am pursuing a Political Science degree on a pre-law track, engaging with political systems, legal theory, and public policy. The curriculum covers governance principles, legal institutions, and the relationship between law and society. Currently I have a 3.5 accumulative GPA.
