Mohan Mullapudi

More than 10 years of research experience (Bioconjugation, Medicinal Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry). This involves extensive bioconjugation, purification, and characterization experience of antibodies, enzymes, proteins, and peptides for applications in antibody-drug conjugates, vaccines, diagnostics, and biologics. 

i. Postdoctoral Associate (Nov 2022- Current), Tumey Lab, Binghamton University, USA

Responsibilities

• Staying up to date with ADC and ISAC literature. Synthesis and evaluation of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and immune-stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs) in collaboration with Heidelberg Pharm, Germany.
• Design of payloads and linker payloads., i.e. medicinal chemistry, and docking studies.
• Synthesis of linker payloads, payloads and characterization.
• Bioconjugation of antibodies (Abs), purification and characterization of ADCs.
• In vitro evaluation of ADCs in cell cultures and cocultures.

Projects handled

• Exploring novel linkers for delivery of immunostimulant Payloads (ADCs/ISACs).
• Screening of potent TLR7 agonists.
• Exploring novel potent payloads for ADCs/ISACs.
• Design and synthesis of dual mechanistic ADCs.
• Discovery of new site-specific chemistry and stability studies of Tubulysin ADCs.

ii. Industrial experience (sep 2022- August 2020), Module Innovations Pvt Ltd., Pune India

Responsibilities

• Managing a small team of 8-12 as a “Principal Scientist” (Jul 2022 to September 2022).
• Planning milestones, and executed projects and experiments.
• Correcting and troubleshooting of experimental protocols
• Introducing new bioconjugation strategies and working on bioconjugations of antibodies, proteins, and enzymes for their use in diagnostics.

• Rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing for uropathogens.
• COVID-19 antigen and antibody rapid detection kits.

Responsibilities

• Staying up to date with protein bioconjugation/engineering/nanotechnology literature.
• Working on synthetic/chemical strategies to convert monomeric protein into protein complexes/particles.
• Organic synthesis of Spacer-Tails, payloads, and characterization.
• Bioconjugations of antibodies (Abs), enzymes and Proteins.
• Purification and characterization of bioconjugates, and evaluation of self-assembly.
