Mike Lazas

Hi, my name is Mike Lazas and I have a huge interest in the cannabis growing and harvesting process. Although I have not grown cannabis on my own yet, I have done much research on nutrient requirements and grow requirements (lighting, training, etc). This spring, I developed my own organic soil with excellent results. I learned that a healthy, living soil is one of the best prophylactics for preventing disease. I had no issues with disease or pests with my indoor and outdoor plants as well as my vegetable plants. My true passion is in botany, horticulture, agronomy, and mycology. During my research, I have also learned about the amazing benefits of mycorrhizal fungi and their symbiotic relationship with plant roots, helping improve nutrient uptake and preventing disease. One of my mentors is Paul Stametes, a world-renown mycologist. I have also been a student of many cultivators in the cannabis industry. Although I from Cumberland, MD, I have been forced to relocate due to the destruction of my residence. I am currently in Harper's Ferry WV, on my way to Virginia where, because it is in Zone 7, has a longer growing season. I plan on continuing my research in agriculture, hoping to some day have my own organic farm and cultivate my own cannabis. I have experience in both organic and inorganic cultivation with a working knowledge of plant anatomy and physiology. As previously mentioned, I have also been studying mycology and the wondrous benefits of mycorrhizal fungi. I recently worked as a landscaper and cultivator for three homeowners, each of whom had twenty or more acres. My duties involved many aspects of landscaping and plant care. I can provide references upon your request. Although it has taken me quite some time to discover my passion, I have arrived at agriculture; namely, soil building, plant care, and nutrient requirements (cycles). I received a BS degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2017 and am a graduate with honors (National Honor's Society) of Springbrook HS in Silver Spring Md (1985). I am presently providing myself with ongoing education in the plant sciences with a passion for cannabis and organics.
