About Michael Semaan:
I'm a dedicated Mechanical Engineering graduate from UC Irvine, where my curiosity for understanding how things work developed into a career path.
With a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering cultivated during my time at UC Irvine, I've improved my skills in 3D design, assembly, and simulation using SolidWorks, programming with Arduino and MATLAB, and electrical wiring. My hands-on experiences both inside and outside the classroom have equipped me with the practical knowledge and problem-solving abilities essential in this field.
Throughout my academic journey, I've actively sought out opportunities to apply the skills I've gained. Working on many projects, I've tackled diverse challenges head-on, consistently delivering innovative solutions and exceeding expectations.
As a recent graduate, I'm excited to embark on the next chapter of my career, using my passion and expertise to make meaningful contributions in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Let's connect and explore how my background and experience can add value to your team or organization.
Experience
I was part of the Design, Build, Fly project at the University of California, Irvine where I used SolidWorks to design the fuselage, nose cone shape, crew compartment, passenger clamps, bulkheads, and passenger loading system and performed static, fatigue, and buckling SolidWorks simulations to determine failure in the parts.
I designed and assembled an autonomous robot that navigated an L-shaped course. I was in charge of writing all the code for the Arduino which activated the solenoid, firing the piston and rotated the servo after firing the piston a certain number of times. Finally, I worked with the mechanical and electrical teams to assemble the robot.
I also designed an autonomous rover that navigated a course using a PixyCam2 and a Mini LiDAR Sensor, where it picked up a cup at the end of the track. I designed and laser cut the base, 3D printed the Ackerman steering and did the electrical wiring.
Finally, I designed a remote-control rover using 3D printed, laser cut, and off the shelf parts to navigate a figure-eight course by controlling a servo with a remote-control device. I designed the Ackerman steering in SolidWorks and was in charge of assembling the entire rover. I performed testing by using the rover on the course and made design iterations based on the results.
