Matthew Kang

Hi! My name is Matthew Kang and I'm a school-based therapist currently looking for the next opportunity out there! I have experience working at grades TK-12 with school-based supports at mental health agency. I also work in a group private practice and predominantly support high schoolers, transitional age youth, and adults as part of my caseload. I currently hold a PPSC credentialing in order to work in public school settings. I am passionate about guiding my clients in understanding their history, behavior, personality, and how they navigate through the world. I also enjoy supporting youth through their interpersonal challenges, exploring their visions for their future, and exploring current and past stressors. I specialize in treating those who are affected by depression, anxiety, cognitive distortions, cultural stress, and trauma-related stressors. 

I will have completed and submitted my 3000 clinical hours to BBS at the end of April-early May to prepare for licensure (LCSW).

Having been born and raised in the Bay Area, I have always wanted to find a way to give back to the community that has done so much for my family and me. I have worked in mental health for the last seven years providing the essential services to the Bay Area community. I'm currently a school-based therapist that supports a high school program at a mental health organization called Seneca Family of Agencies. I also work in a group private practice called Sunnyvale Therapy Group and support a variety of clients on my caseload with different ages and demographics. 

I attended and completed my Master's of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Southern California and also received my PPSC (Pupil Personnel Services Credential) in order to work in public schools in California. For my undergraduate education, I attended and graduated from St. John's University in Queens, NY with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
