Matthew Coyle

I have served 11 Years in the Marine corps and have been instructing the application of marksmanship and small arms proficiency since 2016.  I have compiled my experience from many backgrounds including Military, State Department and civilian programs.  I am always excited to refine my craft and learn something new I need to work on every time I leave the range.  I am passionate about passing on the skills I've learned as they are applicable to many disciplines.  When I first entered the world of professional shooting, the Pistol was my weakness but after years of training and working with other experts that my career had matched me up with, the pistol is my most proficient field.  

As an infantry Platoon Sergeant,  My job is to plan and execute training for the Marines under me.  Specifically, my focus is to meet company/battalion training requirements with a focus on combat effectiveness.  Combat effectiveness is a vague term but for my focus, it all boils down to how well the individual Marine can employ his weapon to produce the desired effect for the commander.  As a Marine Security Guard detachment commander,  Most of my training goals remained the same as far as training the individual.  However,  I was also required to train and maintain the standards set forth by the Department of State (DS) and the Diplomatic Security Service  (DSS).  In order to archive the desired level of proficiency and the certification to teach I attended many DS training events and courses. 

As an active duty Marine,  I have attended the Combat Marksmanship Couches course in order to be a certified instructor of small arms used by the United States Marine Corps.  Additionally I have attended the Foreign Weapons Instructor Course to expand my knowledge of other countries' small arms weapons system.

While serving as a Marine Security Augmentation Unit Detachment Commander, I attended the Basic Field Firearms Officers Course which certified me to training the Marines of the unit to meet DS standards in weapons qualification.
