About Martin Golding:
I attended the University of Miami School of Medicine, completed my internal medicine training at Brown University and my gastroenterology fellowship at Emory University. I am board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology and am a Fellow of the American College of Internal Medicine (FACP) and the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG)
I practiced gastroenterology and hepatology for 25 years in Maryland following the completion of my training. My practice consisted of caring for patients with a wide variety of gastroenterology disorders including gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcers disease, malabsorption disorders, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and disorders of the liver and pancreas. I also spent a significant amount of time caring for primary care patients with a broad variety of conditions including diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
In 2011, I left my medical practice to join the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). I was the senior clinical medical officer for the gastroenterology and endoscopy devices branch. My position consisted of the evaluation of subject safety in clinical trials related to gastroenterology and endoscopy devices and decision making if a tested device was safe and sufficiently effective to permit release into the medical workplace. During my 11-year tenure at the FDA, I continued to care for patients on a weekly basis as a volunteer physician at 2 indigent clinics as both a primary care provider and some gastroenterology consultations.
I found that working at these clinics was very enjoyable and extremely gratifying. The pleasure and satisfaction of seeing and caring for primary care patients led to my decision to leave the FDA and return to the practice of medicine. My wife Sharon and I moved to our home in Lewes, DE in May of 2022 for me to begin practicing medicine again. Over the past year I have worked with Signify HealthCare performing in-home Medicare Advantage chart reviews and physicals and at the La Red Community Health Center in Georgetown DE as a primary care provider. Over the 5 months that I worked at La Red I started being asked to perform gynecology procedures and pediatric evaluations which are beyond my expertise. I have left La Red and am seeking a new outpatient internal medicine position in Sussex County Delaware.
