Mark IVERSON

I am a trained historian with over ten years working in the field of public history in Boise, Idaho.  I bring a lot of life experience, including a two and a half year stint in the Peace Corp, serving the county of Bulgaria and half a year living in Sarajevo, Bosnia as a graduate student working with the University of Sarajevo. I am an experienced researcher, having spent many hours in physical and online archives.

- Regularly visited the Idaho State Archives to find primary source material to inspire content for a number of history tours
offered by Idahistory.
- Drafted original tour scripts covering a wide variety of historical time periods and themes.
- Conducted numerous trial tours with individuals both known and unknown.
- Led historical tours with clients from the Boise area and without.
- Conducted genealogical research for various clients.
- Researched historical subjects to film videos for Idahistory’s social media accounts.
- Researched property histories and produced historical reports for numerous clients.
Contractual Researcher
Steven’s Historical Research Associates – Boise, ID
March 2019 to June 2019
- Conducted onsite research at Boise State University’s Albertsons Library searching various mining and mineral periodicals,
for articles pertaining to the extraction and processing of Potash and its uses.
- Scanned relevant articles in these mining journals using the free Adobe Scanner application for smartphones and sent them
to Steven’s Historical Research Associates. 
- Studied primary sources relating to the early to late fur trade on the Upper Missouri River to identify evidence of financial
transactions, whether with coin or in trade, between the regional tribes and Euromerican trappers and traders in relation to
the use of or travel on the river. 
- Generated summaries in an Excel spreadsheet for each pertinent source, explaining its connection to the economic dealings
on the Upper Missouri and the nature of the interaction, making sure to note page numbers, specific paragraphs, and
passages. 
Historian Susan Williams PhD – School of Advanced Studies University of London
March 2019 to April 2019
- Carried out onsite research at the Boise State University special collection within the Senator Frank Church Collection to
identify documents pertaining to the senator’s investigation into abuses of power and assassinations during the Central
Intelligence Agency’s involvement in Central Africa during the Cold War. 
- Categorized then scanned relevant articles to Dr. Susan William at the University of London via encrypted email
communications.

History Programs Assistant
Boise Department of Arts & History - Boise, ID
February 2017 to February 2019
- Managed contracts, work orders, change orders, invoice processing, speaker and talent agreements, and request for
qualifications bids and panels.
- Processed oral history interview files in the Boise Department of Arts & History Database, converting files from MP3 to
WAV format then burning WAV files to compact data discs.
- Assisted in the physical transfer of Boise Fire Department artifacts into archival quality handmade boxes, containing
non-acidic tissue paper and Styrofoam.
- Researched multiple objects accessioned by the department, accepting or denying objects based on the department's
collection policy.
- Managed the physical setup, the arrangement and distribution of media materials, and the processing of speaker receipts
and payments for the department’s Fettuccine Forum speaker series, an event covering politics, current events, topical
history, and local art subjects.
- Managed public, inner departmental, and citywide research requests for the department, utilizing Idaho Statesman online
archives, Library of Congress Records, Idaho State Archives, Boise State Special Collections and Archives, University of
Idaho Archives, General Land Office documentation, and Ada County Assessor Records.
- Composed research reports pertaining to a variety of local history topics including elections, land patents, important
historical figures, neighborhood histories, property research, and major projects and events in Boise history.
- Located archived maps and photographs for a variety of exhibits, presentations, and tours conducted by the department.
- Researched, drafted content, presented, and led tours for a variety of departmental programs and events including historical
tours, Presentations, and Artist James Castle House tours.
- Organized and managed workshops for neighborhood associations pertaining to historic property surveys.

Cemetery and Memorial Programs Representative

- Coordinated cemetery lot sales, deed transfers, burial services, historical research, database management, and financial
transactions for the City of Boise’s cemeteries.
- Assisted grieving, older, and terminally ill customers find lots corresponding to their end of life wishes.
- Maintained the Park Memorial Bench and Tree programs for Boise Parks and Recreation. Processed donations, ordered
various monument types and organized the placement of the memorials.
- Managed the memorial database.
- Performed other duties including using Microsoft Excel and Access to create reports and manage information, providing
information to the public regarding Parks and Recreation programming, and leading historical tours of Morris Hill and
Pioneer Cemeteries.

- Conducted literary reviews, finding the most current information for faculty members' topics of

- Impacted Idaho human rights research through transcribing interviews related to the field of civil
rights history.
Refugee and Internally Displaced Academic Researcher and Grant Writer
Center for Refugee and Displaced Population Studies (CESI) Sarajevo

- Participated in the writing of grants for the organization intended to further develop refugee aid research programs in
Bosnia
- Revised English language documents and grant applications for CESI
- Wrote summaries of academic articles charting the origins and inspirations behind CESI's intended development of
programs intended to further the methodology behind refugee aid.
- Travelled to refugee centers in Bosnia to interact with displaced populations as participants in projects designed by the
center to spread awareness of refugee issues through photography and artistic expression

- Conducted interviews with civilians in Bosnian Serb towns in which massacres occurred
during the Bosnian War as part of graduate level research focused on crimes against women
in warfare.
- Aided in organizing an interdisciplinary summer school educating graduate level and doctoral level students on
sociological, economic, cultural and historical issues pertaining to refugees throughout the world.
Dementia and Alzheimer Care Attendant

Bulgaria.
