About Marjaneh Gilpatrick:
Marjaneh Gilpatrick, Ed.D., has served as associate vice president of Statewide Initiatives and Alliances at Northern Arizona University since 2021. While collaborating with community colleges, she leads strategic market-driven academic program offerings across multiple regions. Previously, she served as College of Education’s associate dean at Grand Canyon University for 14 years and has also been a professor in educational leadership. Furthermore, she is the vice president of the board of directors for the Arizona Educational Foundation. Marjaneh received her B.S. in elementary education from Louisiana State University, an M.A in education from San Diego State University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University.
Experience
- Leads NAU’s strategic statewide and regional efforts in design and development of workforce development programs, micro credentials and certificates
- Led the development and strengthening of Northern Arizona University’s online and statewide academic programs
- Led GCU College of Education’s Diversity Task Force
- Led GCU’s collaboration with the Phoenix Restorative Justice Center to train GCU students in becoming mentor peer tutors
- Led efforts to submit federal grants to U.S. Department of Education on behalf of partner school districts.
- Collaborated as part of a task force seeking an NSF Grant that sought to certify individuals in teaching science, technology, engineering and math in rural schools in Arizona
- Led statewide effort to create the Culturally Inclusive Practices Guidelines for local educational agencies
- Facilitated the Arizona Alliance of Black School Educators’ Saturday STEAM workshops at GCU
- Manage boards of directors in numerous endeavors, including while the president of AZ-TESOL from 2015-2017 and between 2012-2013; as the 2nd Vice President in 2010 and 1st VP in 2011; as the president of the Educators Rising Arizona Board of Directors from 2012-2015; as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Arizona Educational Foundation
- Created strategic plans and prepared annual reports while serving as Executive Director of the Early Learning and Development Center
- Aligned the Center’s practices to the Arizona Department of Health Services’ Empower Program as well as Arizona Department of Education’s Infant and Toddler as well as Early Learning Standards
- Devised, implemented, and monitored budgets and payroll as the Executive Director of the Early Learning and Development Center, with directives that included forecasting the number of teachers needed, predicting the amount of resources required to efficiently operate the center, assessing income and identifying methods to bolster it, and devising innovative ways to raise funds and to market the program to increase enrollment; reviewed the profit & loss statement each month, preparing and submitting a budget variance report subsequent to reviewing results
- Possesses over ten years of supervisory experience gained in the capacity of Assistant Dean at GCU and subsequently as Executive Director of Educational Outreach; directly managed seven direct reports in the Office of Field Experiences, and 10 direct reports in the Early Learning and Development Center
- Serves as the College of Education’s marketing liaison: responsible for: the creation of Lopes Teach Up which is dedicated to elevating the education profession; the college’s blog, Teaching in Purple as well as Twitter and Instagram accounts
- Serves as the college’s outreach and public relations liaison
- Initiated the process and established the GCU chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. From 2009-2021, I inducted over 800 students into KDP and I have led the chapter’s fundraising efforts to support Lopes for Literacy
- Co-chaired town of Gilbert’s Character Education Task Force in selecting Character Counts as the official character education program for all of town’s entities
- Recognized as an excellent presenter, having regularly made presentations at conferences in Arizona and nationally to both small and large groups
- Collaborated closely with the Arizona Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition Services to gain approval of SEI courses in programs of study during tenure as Chair of the Master's in Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
- Served on the Arizona Department of Education’s standard setting committees for Education Professions, English Language Proficiencies as well as on a committee that set the proficiency levels for AZELLA
