About Madi White:

I am an Honors Student at the University of Florida, studying Applied Physiology and Kinesiology on a pre-physical therapy track, with a minor in Health Administration. Upon graduation, it is my intention to pursue a DPT and serve in the Air Force as a physical therapist following my licensing exam.
I currently am employed by UF Health Shands Hospital, where I work with a small office staff to create patient lists for doctors, complete death certificates, manage the observer program, send faxes, and organize hospital data. I also spend a great deal of time in the hospital volunteering with pediatric cancer patients, and providing mentorship and support to them through this incredibly difficult time. I intend to continue both of these experiences throughout my college journey, and am also currently in the process of obtaining my Medical Assistant Certification through UF to further explore this vastly diverse field, and build up the skillset necessary to succeed in this industry.

Experience

Since Spring 2025, I have been working at UF Health Shands Hospital as a Student Administrative Assistant, where my duties include creating patient lists for doctors, coordinating the observer program, faxing death certificates, plans of care, prior authorizations, and prescriptions, maintaining the division website, serving as the point of contact for patients, families and pharmacies and assisting with the creation of Hospitalists’ work schedules through Epic, QGenda, and Humanity.

I also currently work at the Campus Recreation Center as a Certified Group Fitness Instructor (certification from the American Council of Exercise). In this role, I program, lead, and instruct 45 minute to 1 hour cycle/spin classes twice a week, effectively and safely communicating the what and the why behind workout movements and mechanisms for overall participant benefit and education.

I also have experience working in a Muscle Plasticity research lab under Dr. Hardee, where we study muscular dystrophy and cancer cachexia. My current project centers around how low frequency and high frequency bouts of contraction impact metabolic response of cachectic muscle.

Education

I am currently working towards my bachelors in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology in the honors program at the University of Florida on a pre-physical therapy track. I also have a minor in Health Administration.

I currently hold both an Associates Degree in General Studies from Florida Southwestern State College, and my high school diploma.
