About M.B. Kinchen:
I am an orthopaedic spine surgeon with over 20 years of experience and training in all aspects of spine care including motion preservation, minimal invasive techniques, and spinal deformity. I am extremely interested in your Orthopaedic Spine Surgery position
After graduating from Yale and Harvard Medical School, I completed my orthopaedic training and Kostuik spine fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I began my career in California where I ultimately spent 8 years as the medical director of a hospital based spinal deformity clinic in Whittier, Ca. This was a unique experience as it offered a hybrid scenario; marrying clinical research with the private sector. I subsequently relocated to the Dallas area for family reasons and have been in private solo practice for the past 7 years. I have excellent communicative skills with patients and colleagues and enjoy teaching. I currently educate engineers and representatives from varying implant companies regarding the clinical needs of surgeons in the operating room. My background in biomechanics makes that collaboration easier. I have participated in multiple site studies for varying implant companies and am extremely comfortable developing and following research protocols. I also provide opportunities for local high school and college students who are interested in the field to shadow both in clinic and the operating room. My experience as a medical director and as an entrepreneur has helped hone my leadership skills over the past 20 years.
I am interested in opportunity because of my desire to have a larger impact in my field. I enjoy educating future physicians, performing clinical research with the latest technology, and having a profound impact in patient care. Because of my background in both academia and the private sector, I can provide a broad perspective for young physicians. One of my personal goals is to increase representation in the field of orthopaedic spine surgery on a scale that is larger than what I can accomplish as a solo provider. I am a very charismatic lecturer who enjoys the art of storytelling to provide perspective.
Thank you for the opportunity to apply to this position and I look forward to hearing from you.
