About Lori Teague:
Nearly 2 years ago I retired from my position as a school nurse after 22 years at the same campus. This enabled my husband and I to move closer to our Colorado Springs grandchildren. Well, there was one grandson at that time and then soon after came twin grandsons! Now that the premie stage is over I am ready to seek employment!
My goal all along was to continue working part time for multiple reasons, but mainly because I value being part of a community that is focused on elevating health and education. I believe I am a qualified candidate for a variety of nursiong positions, and I know I am a good employee and work team member.
Thank you for your consideration.
Experience
In order to strengthen my nursing skills, for my first year as a Registered Nurse I worked in a hospital on a Medical Surgical floor. While doing that I began substituting as a school nurse to get “my foot in the door” for a career that would complement having school-aged daughters. This decision turned into a 22 year career that was challenging and rewarding.
I attribute my success as a school nurse to my ability to develop and maintain respectful relationships with a diverse population to include supervisors, peers, parents and students. These relationships endured while working within the scope of my practice in my clinic but also as I contributed to other areas in the community.
Due to those positive relationships, I was at the same campus for 23 school years. Besides being the campus nurse, I took on leadership roles in the school districts health services department. For 5 years I was the school district’s lead instructor for CPR/AED/First Aid with the students being campus safety teams, coaches, and bus drivers. And I was one of only 4 nurses in a district of 40 nurses that worked the employee COVID testing site.
Currently, I am part of the nursing team at MCA Home Care for one of my Grandsons. His needs are primarily based on gtube care, feeds and supplements. I typically work 1 shift a week. This has been a great opportunity for me to help as a family member and as a nurse. However, my intention for the next chapter of my career is to be involved in the community.
