Layne McIntire

I am an upcoming graduating senior at UMass Amherst, where I am earning my BS in Public Health Sciences with a Business minor. I am looking to start my career in medical sales following graduation. Last summer, I gained valuable experience working with the Hawai'i Public Health Institute, and I had the opportunity to study in Hawaii on exchange at UH Manoa, which broadened my understanding of public health initiatives. This background has prepared me well for building relationships and applying effective communication strategies in the medical sales field.

With over 8 years of retail experience, including my current role as Assistant Manager at Nauset Surf Shop in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where I was promoted in recent years, I have developed strong leadership and customer service skills. While studying in Hawaii and pursuing my degree, I continue to work at a surf shop. I am planning to secure an internship in public health or medical sales this spring to build on my academic knowledge and professional background in preparation for a career in the medical sales field.

I will be earning my Bachelor of Science in Public Health this spring from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I also completed two semesters of exchange at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. My college journey began as an Applied Exercise Science major at the University of New England in Maine, where I played NCAA field hockey. These experiences have provided me with a well-rounded background in public health, exercise science, and team dynamics, all of which contribute to my readiness for a career in medical sales.
