About Lauryn Goodwin:
Internship Experience for MPH February 2024-July 2024: During this internship experience I worked with Healthy Savannah, a non-profit organization that is a Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (R.E.A.C.H.) grant recipient, which is funded by the CDC to prevent and reduce chronic illnesses and help provide resources to African Americans, Hispanics, etc. During this internship experience I worked with the low-income population in Savannah, GA to promote access to healthier food alternatives and physical activity through local farmers markets and accessible biking/walking trails to prevent chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. I also had the opportunity to help re-establish the food policy council in Chatham County by assessing the current landscape in regard to food insecurity and researching effective policies throughout the U.S. that could be adapted for the Savannah, Georgia area.
