About Laura Thurbon:
As an award-winning artist, educator, and community leader with over 25 years of experience, I bring a unique blend of creativity, leadership, and passion to every role I undertake. Born in Lima, Peru, I pursued an extensive education in the arts, completing three art careers as an artist, drawer, and art educator. My artistic journey has taken me across the globe, with exhibitions in Arizona, New York, Europe, South America, and India. I’ve won numerous prestigious awards, including first place and the People’s Choice Award in the 2024 Tempe Bloom Mural Competition and recognition in the Fountain Hills Electric Boxes Contest, also I was invited to New York fashion week 2023 to showcase my fashion collection, and wearable art.
My work extends beyond galleries and murals I am deeply committed to using art as a transformative tool for healing and empowerment. Through philanthropic projects with organizations like Saint Vincent de Paul, Child Help, and Harvest Compassion Center, and though working as an art therapist, I’ve witnessed the profound impact of art on individuals and communities. As an art educator, I inspire students to explore their creativity, integrating historical and cultural contexts to foster a deeper appreciation for the arts.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I have a strong background in leadership and administration, having served as an assistant to an executive director in an international company. This role honed my organizational, project management, and event coordination skills, which I now apply to managing large-scale art projects, workshops, and community events.
My diverse skill set includes photography, Photoshop, fashion design, event organization, and community engagement. I’m passionate about promoting the arts, empowering women, and helping future generations find their voice through creative expression. Whether through public murals, educational programs, or collaborative projects, my goal is to inspire, connect, and create meaningful change.
I am seeking a role where I can contribute my artistic expertise, leadership abilities, and passion for community engagement to support an organization’s mission. My unique combination of creative vision, dedication to education, and commitment to social impact makes me a valuable asset to any team.
