About Kylar Nietzel:

Currently, I am enrolled in the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona. In May of 2023, I will be receiving my bachelor’s degree, and with the accelerated master’s program offered at the University of Arizona, I will be obtaining my masters in 2024. Both degrees will focus on aerospace engineering, and in regards to my masters, I have selected fluid mechanics as my core area. I would like to take the aerodynamic concepts I have gained to the next level and directly apply them into the fluid mechanics world. During my tenure at the University of Arizona, I have acquired a variety of new skills. I have gained a knowledgeable understanding of fluid mechanics and have learned two coding languages along the way: MATLAB and C++. My fluids expertise consists of how lift is generated, the components of drag, how different changes to the wing (AoA, chord, span) influence lift/drag, Reynolds number, boundary layers, and vortices. Due to my involvement on the FSAE team at my university, I have gained a knowledgeable interpretation of computer-aided design and computational fluid mechanics. I have designed the sidepods for the 2023 car in Solidworks, and uploaded my designs to Star CCM+, where they can be analyzed in a wind tunnel simulation. I also have had experience with making wind tunnel corrections for one of the subsonic wind tunnels at my university. Additionally, my studies have taught me how to function analytical equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic meters, circuits components, micropipettes, and spectrometers. In conclusion, my love and passion for fluid mechanics will keep driving me forward to not only absorb extreme and complex ideas, but to master it along my career path. I have great communication skills in which I can be easily integrated into any company and create a positive impact to the workplace. I am very dependable and will always produce my finest work with the largest amount of effort possible.

Experience

Currently part of the aero sub team on my Formula SAE team at the University of Arizona. It made me extremely comfortable working in unison with others to design/manufacture parts in a timely fashion. Also I learned the basic concepts on the manufacturing of composites.

Education

Currently I am enrolled in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Arizona and expected to graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in May 2023. In addition, I am also enrolled in the accelerated masters program at the university in which I will receive my Master's of Science in Aerospace Engineering with a core area of fluid mechanics.
