About Krishnilta Narayan:

I have developed and utilized a variety of skills throughout my vocational and academic career in assisting clients and working as a guest service associate. I have engaged in active learning, critical thinking, teamwork, and time management when I have completed tasks and duties in employment positions, academic coursework, and for volunteer positions that I served in. My vocational and academic career has assisted me in developing skills in problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, social interaction, and maintaining interpersonal relations. I have received opportunities for building relationships with other individuals. In addition, my appreciation for cultural diversity pursued me to study sociology since I enjoy working with different people. I value seeking common ground with other individuals as well.
 

Experience

Merchandise Stocker:

I acquired familiarity with sales, promotions, exchanges, purchases and payments. I arranged merchandise in proper areas so that customers could have immediate access to the products. I replenished aisles, shelves, walls, and other areas of the workplace with merchandise that was available for purchase. I sorted merchandise according to relevant pricing. I also demonstrated the utilization of specific items to customers that purchased the goods. I also guided customers in locating products that they desired. I also responded to customer queries in regards to the products that they were interested in purchasing. I selected and recommended specific goods to customers according to their needs and desires. I identified items that needed to be reordered for customers that requested them. Furthermore, I contributed to reducing the duration of time expended on specific duties that were required of other employees by assisting them in completing the tasks. I assisted other employees in completing duties such as stocking items, sealing products, fulfilling needs of customers, organizing merchandise in the workplace, and ordering products for customers. I operated cash registers. I ensured that the inventory of goods consisted of products that satisfied the standards of quality. Additionally, I maintained visual standards in the workplace by organizing items on display. I remained informed on how to recognize security risks and be aware of when to prevent and handle those situations.  

 

Tutor:

I served students by providing assistance to them in order to have them enhance their performance in foreign language courses that they were enrolled in. I recommended students to utilize proper learning skills so that they were able to master and retain new information that had been introduced to them in foreign language courses. Additionally, I also demonstrated competency in adequate writing, as well as, in oral and interpersonal communication. I conducted individualized tutorial sessions for students that experienced academic deficiencies and I determined which skill areas they required additional assistance in developing. Furthermore, I maintained records that were required for documenting the progress of students in their courses. I advised students to join study groups. I also recommended them to schedule appointments with their professors to verify and discuss which topics they needed me to provide further assistance on. I instructed students on utilizing proper grammar and vocabulary. Moreover, I clarified miscomprehension that students experienced when they attempted to learn new material and reviewed information. I implemented methods that facilitated improvement for students by designing grammatical exercises, labeling index cards, and structuring study plans for them. I assessed academic needs of students and monitored difficulties that interfered with their ability to comprehend concepts needed for learning foreign languages. 

 

Event/Conference Organizer :

This was an internship opportunity. I served as a conference/event organizer at an event that was held to inform young adolescent women on how to lead pleasant and fulfilling lives. I met individuals from the St. Joseph's Health System and the organization of Circle of Sisters in order to address needs of adolescent women. My colleagues and I wanted to discover the interests of adolescent women and become informed of issues that young women desired to learn about at an event that we planned. I consulted with students and professors to determine objectives that we wanted to achieve when hosting the event. I collaborated with students and professors in order to formulate details of activities for the event in order to inform adolescent women on how to attain secure livelihoods. The event that we organized consisted of a conference in which we advised adolescent women on how to accomplish goals that were relevant to their interests such as academic success, having better relationships with others, vocational planning, health, nutrition, and self-acceptance. I assisted students in structuring activities such as lectures, discussions, group interviews, dialogue-oriented performances, and a session on how adolescent women could resolve any crisis that they encounter. I monitored activities that were in compliance with guidelines that professors recommended. I arranged settings in a facility where I coordinated the activities with colleagues. I devised details for the event in regards to the selection of facilities, maintenance of displays, placement of signage, and accommodating specific needs of guests.  

 

Computer Trainer:

I volunteered to instruct clients on mastering skills in utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and the Internet. I assisted clients in collating pages of reports, compositions, letters, and material form course lectures via Microsoft Word. I retrieved documents and update them by compiling additional text if requested to do so by clients. I arranged and gathered typed material according to the requests of clients. I proofread typed material displayed on documents prior to printing them for clients. I revised documents for punctuation, grammar, and spelling. I adjusted page settings with specific page layouts, line spacing, formatting, font sizes, and other style preferences requested by clients when I assisted them in creating documents through Microsoft Word. I filed and stored electronic documents on disks. I transmitted documents to email addresses when clients requested that I send them copies of documents that I created for them. I operated electronic equipment including printers, photocopiers, disk drives, and keyboards. Additionally, I assisted clients in creating and formatting presentation slides via Microsoft PowerPoint by incorporating a variety of templates available for use. I inserted texts, graphs, images, photographs, and charts onto presentation slides through Microsoft PowerPoint according to the preferences of clients. I analyzed presentation documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to the standards established by clients. I also instructed clients on how to display and conduct PowerPoint presentations to individuals at meetings or in courses at schools. Furthermore, I trained clients on how to research material by means of the Internet. I guided them on navigating through a variety of websites in regards to their interests and needs. I provided instructions to clients on how to create an email account and electronically deliver messages to recipients. I informed clients about online resources available for them at the library regarding local events, transportation services, vocational assistance, tutoring services, literacy programs, career exploration, health, and wellness. I guided clients on gaining access to the online catalog of the Solano County Library system. I assisted them in searching for academic journals, books, films, magazines, encyclopedias, and other items that are similar to those items. 

 

Front Office Aide

I served as a volunteer at the non - profit organization. I filed and compiled documents. I also produced photocopies of documents and other paperwork. I organized files into folders, binders, and shelves. I responded to phone calls. I printed documents for visitors and employees. I communicated with clients in order to verify their needs. I maintained the appearance of the organization as well. I attached announcements and lists of community events on bulletin boards. I distributed food and beverages to clients that needed assistance in maintaining nutrition. I directed clients to resources that are available for them in the community. I proofread documents and labeled file folders. I also faxed and delivered paperwork that was distributed to appropriate parties and company partners. I formatted, typed, and printed company documents. I also performed data entry tasks for this position.

 

Guest Services Associate:

I performed a variety of customer service tasks. I operated cash registers. I engaged in and have experience in cash handling. I resolved and offered appropriate solutions to concerns that shoppers have along with accepting their recommended feedback. I processed returns and exchanges as well. I also provided assistance as an attendant at self-service registers. I communicated and interacted with customers to assist them in fulfilling their needs. I assisted other employees in completing duties such as stocking items, replenishing shelves, maintaining cleanliness of the work environment, satisfying additional needs and requests that patrons have, offering recommendations on improving efficiency in the workplace, and distributing information in regards to more ways in which patrons can save on expenses when shopping at the store. I also contributed to completing duties that employees were required to in other departments that handled various types of merchandise including electronic items, clothing, cosmetics, household items, groceries, health products, pet supplies, literature, and additional goods. I referred patrons to the sources and individuals in the management department if they desired to share concerns. I also responded to and willingly accepted any recommendations that patrons offered me individually in order to enhance proper business function and productivity in the workplace. I also directed patrons in locating items that they search for.
