About Kerry Cogan:

Experience
With 8 years in education under my belt, I have had the opportunity to develop curricula for both secondary and undergraduate students. I am skilled in communicating complex science content in a way participants find understandable and interesting, scaffolding assessments to appropriately meet participants' needs, and preparing and updating all records and documentations for participants regularly. I have a single subject teaching credential in science in both California and Washington state.
I have had the opportunity to prepare paper-and-pencil and digital curricula for my own classroom, for other classroom teachers, for EarthEcho International & Northrop Grumman, and for California State University, Long Beach. Each of these curricula has been science based.
Education
I completed my MS in Science Education in 2021. This degree focused partially on best practices in science teaching and science curriculum development and partially focused on my science of choice, which was biology. In my thesis for this program, I created instructional material to facilitate virtual labs including slides, tests, games, interactive maps, videos, and more.
I attended the Transition to Teaching (TTT) accelerated program at California State University, Dominguez Hills where I completed my teacher training and received my single subject teaching credential in California in 2015.
I received my BA in Psychology (minor in Environmental Biology) from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2014. My research here was on the affects of visible tattoos on first impressions of men with tattoos versus women with tattoos.
