Research Geophysicist: Sinopec Tech Houston:  Sep 2018 - Nov 2020 · 2 yrs 3 mos: 

  • Testing and development of the high precision migration Thunder Seismic Data Processing system.
  •  Horizon picking and velocity model building and manipulation, including tomography, editing and salt body inclusion in STH viewer and QIMAGE3D.

  • Employed for 20+ years as a processor of land and marine seismic data.
  • Extensive experience with the Omega processing software package, INVA, Petrel E&P
    software (Ocean plug-in) and UNIX.
  • Premigration processing including 2D&3D land&marine data, geometry, survey
    merging, trace editing, refraction and reflection statics, Radon, Tau-P, FK, despike, and
    denoise filters, Q filtering, random and multiple noise attenuation.
  • Pre-stack time and depth migration including Kirchhoff (KPSTM, KPSDM), Beam and
    Reverse Time Migration (RTM) algorithms on Marine, Synthetic and Land data.
  • Post Migration processing, including interpolation, stack, gain, and filters.
  • Picking water bottom, salt horizon, velocity and anisotropic values in Petrel and INVA.
  • Horizon and velocity model manipulation, including tomography, editing and salt body
    inclusion in Petrel.
  • QC Department testing of updates and new software versions of Omega and Petrel.
  • Support, automation, flow standardization and construction of master setup to be used
    in all future phases of projects, debugging, troubleshooting, software update testing, client request fulfillment, deliverables, QC of outgoing products, tape copy, final report
    writing, archiving, tape management, data loading, formats and coordinates systems.
  • Regularly learned and implemented new algorithms, workflows, software, and updates.
  • Coaching and mentoring new hires, creation of ‘Lunch & Learn’ presentations for
    department, consulting with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Worked closely with clients including meetings, presentations, status reports, and both
    intermediate and final reporting. 
  • Relevant training includes Anisotropic parameter picking, theory of Depth Migration,
    Salt Interpretation and picking, 4 Component Seismic processing, Unix Systems
    administration, Petrel/I2I Modeling software, 3-D Seismic Survey Design and Analysis.
  • Project Leader. Delegation of responsibilities. Keep management and clients informed.
