Kari Smith

I have worked in several positions where I have been in charge of sensitive information and have had training on and adhered to all HIPAA regulations. I have worked with several different online patient/client care platforms including PROMIS and Cerebro (similar to epic for Telehealth) I spent the last two years working with a telehealth company. The first 6 months as a Member Coordinator and then a year and a half as one of three Behavioral Health Engagement Specialists for a growing telehealth company that operates in all 50 states. I am familiar with all aspects of managing patient information as well as facilitating client care and provider management. I work well with others and am self motivated to work on my own coordinating with my team remotely. I am a quick learner and have many skills that make me a great fit for many positions in different fields. I am passionate about creating a positive experience for those needing health care and mental health care. I am also passionate about helping others in general. I enjoy working with people and am great at client interaction.  I am also a photographer and artist and love to incorporate that into my work whenever I find it helpful.  I look forward to working with you

I started in the workforce at 17 working at State Farm Insurance as an Offive Representative and later went to work for Head Start as a CACFP Health Aide and then later as a Mental Health Specialist Aide. I took on many other responsibilities within Head Start as they were needed such as temporarily filling in for Early Head Start Center Director while helping to overhaul filing systems and adherence to policies and procedures and education plans, assisting all content area specialists with various projects and administrative duties, managing and auditing databases and files, completing state and federally mandated developmental assessments and assisting doctoral students with research and data collection. 
After my work at Head Start I worked in several positions doing administrative duties and then worked as a live in caregiver for someone with Muscular Dystrophy. My latest career opportunity was with a growing telehealth company where I started as a Member Service Coordinator, taking health information and setting up remote urgent care vists and managing doctors questions as well as patient support. I then moved up to being one of three Behavioral Health Engagement Specialists and managed all therapy and psychiatric visits as well as managed the providers and completing all administrative tasks involved in facilitating these visits. 

I have over 60 hours of college credit toward a Psychology degree at University of Houston and also started working on a medical coding and billing certificate.
