About Karen Simmons:
I have worked as a psychometrist for almost thirty years in Virginia. Most recently, I was employed as a pediatric neuropsychometrist at a children's hospital in Norfolk, VA. I have administered psychological tests to all demographics and in many different settings, and I have consistently attained the CEUs necessary to retain my national certification as a Specialist in Psychometry; however, in moving to Tennessee, I understand this field is not an option without a master's degree. I hope to gain employment where my skills and interests will transfer.
Experience
I began administering psychological tests to patients in nursing homes in 1997. I spent 15 years working as a forensic psychometrist. In 2015, I was hired by the Eastern Virginia Medical school and earned my CSP (Certified Specialist in Psychometry) while working as the lead neuropsychometrist in their Neuropsychology Clinic. Most recently, I worked for the Children's Specialty Group at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, until a change in management led to the discharge of all Behavioral Health Technicians.
Education
I earned my Associate's degree from Tidewater Community College in 2010, and my Bachelor's degree from Virginia Wesleyan College in 2015. My educational focus was in social sciences, primarily psychology.
