Kaitlynn Hopkins

When I joined the Navy 12 years ago, I had big dreams to be a nurse.  While that dream has changed over the years, my ambition has not.  I found my place in radiology imaging, and I am excited to expand my knowledge and skills further. I have 11 years of experience in the radiology field, starting in general diagnostic imaging.  I have since obtained my Computed Tomography license (2022) and am currently working towards my MRI certification.  I hope in the future to complete my master's degree and get my Radiologist Assistant registry.

I have been in the Navy for 12 years.  My first year and a half was spent in school.  I am now a radiologic technologist.  Though I have held several different positions, that has always been my main position.  I have experience in diagnostic radiology, computed tomography, and lower-level management.  I've managed training requirements, taught students and junior staff, managed schedules, performed as a PACs super user, and performed administrative duties.  I have a wide range of experience throughout the radiology department.  I am flexible, determined, and resilient. 

My radiology training was an accelerated training through the military.  We did 6 months of didactic, classroom-based training, followed by 7 months of clinical experience-based training.  I have also completed the experience-based path for my CT licensing.  I have an Associate's in general education and a Bachelor's in general education with a minor in English.  I hope to complete a second bachelor's in radiology or health sciences as a prerequisite for my master's program.
