About Juan Camilo Sanchez Arcila:

I am particularly interested in Tenure Track positions in Immunology, specifically in the area of host-pathogen interactions.

Experience

My research experience is based on studying Immune responses induced by neglected infectious diseases and my motivation is to understand the immunological mechanisms necessary to generate immune protection against parasites to generate better vaccines against parasitic diseases.

I have fieldwork and wet lab experience studying Leishmaniasis, Malaria/Intestinal Parasites, Zika, Dengue, Chikungunya, and more recently Toxoplasma gondii. I also have experience working with Bioinformatics/immunoinformatics, cellular immune response, flow cytometry, and data analysis.

Currently, I am a post-doctoral research at the University of California, Merced in the Jensen Lab. My research is based on the use of mouse genetic diversity panelsto map genes involved in adaptive immunity to T. gondii.

Education

I studied Biology at Universidad Nacional de Colombia (2005), master's, and Ph.D. in Parasitology from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (2010 and 2015). I have five years and a half of post-doctoral training experience (2016-2018 Fiocruz and 2019-Currently UC Merced).
