About Jose Alvarado:

I’m an Esports Educator and Program Director with over five years of experience building scholastic and competitive Esports programs from the ground up. At ASTEC Charter Schools, I developed two distinct curricula: one focused on Career and Technical Education (CTE) industry pathways and another centered on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)- based athlete development. I’ve coached over 75 student-athletes across multiple titles and managed more than two dozen teams, while also helping design and implement a full-scale Esports lab and shoutcasting system.

As a PlayVS Super Coach and NASEF Scholastic Fellow, I’ve contributed to national conversations around scholastic Esports while mentoring students, leading community outreach, and consulting with college recruiters on effective pipeline strategies. I’ve coached for OATH Esports across eight seasons and collaborated with universities and brands to organize tournaments and charity events. I’m passionate about using Esports as a platform for student engagement, personal growth, and long-term success both in school and beyond.
