About Jessica Silverman:
My name is Jessica Silverman (she/her) and I am a Human Development (B.S.) junior undergraduate at Cornell University on a pre-law pathway, with a 4.024 GPA. Feel free to contact me and I look forward to hearing from you!
Experience
I currently serve as a College of Human Ecology Representative in the Cornell Student Assembly, where I advocate for student needs and work on initiatives to improve campus life, such as drafting a resolution to introduce sleeping pods and bean bag chairs in campus libraries. I also represented Cornell at conferences like the SUNY Student Assembly Fall Conference and the IGNITE Women in Student Government Conference. As a member of the Human Ecology Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Council, I provide strategic feedback, informed by student engagement, to elevate the Human Ecology experience and have designed promotional materials to engage and inform new students.
In addition to my campus leadership, I have gained valuable professional experience through my internship with Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) as a Legislative and Press Intern (Summer 2023). There, I contributed to policy research, assisted with constituent inquiries, and helped organize community events. I also work as an Undergraduate Lab Manager at Dr. Toglia’s Innocence Project Lab, where I conduct research on wrongful convictions, systemic biases, and the examine the transformative role of DNA evidence in criminal justice reform (as a powerful tool for exoneration). In Dr. Sternberg’s Love and Intelligence Lab, I assist in research on cultural intelligence and love, co-develop surveys, and analyze study responses. These experiences have refined my skills in research, communication, and leadership, which I apply to my academic and professional pursuits.
Education
I am a junior at Cornell University studying Human Development on a pre-law pathway. Human Development combines elements of sociology, biology, and psychology, offering a dynamic and interdisciplinary approach to understanding human behavior. Prior to transferring to Cornell, I was part of the UCLA Honors College, where I studied psychology during my freshman year.
