About Jamie Epstein:
My name is Jamie Epstein and I am a recent New York University (NYU) graduate with a degree in Environmental Studies and Public Health. I am passionate about reconnecting urban communities with nature, and I am driven by the idea of creating innovative solutions to build a better, healthier, more equitable world. I plan to pursue a career serving my community and fighting for environmental restoration and health worldwide. My passions and familiarities are widespread, from community justice, field surveys, to media communications, education, and more. I would bring valuable skills, experience, knowledge, and passion to your team.
Experience
I am the Creative Communications and Outreach Intern for Human Impacts Institute, a creative environmental justice organization based in Brooklyn, New York. I create content to promote our programs and engage our audience daily. I help to oversee all of our community and global programs while developing social marketing strategies and communication tools. I have developed the skills to turn raw facts into eye-catching and digestible content.
I was an intern for the Bay Area Sierra Club, where I helped develop and monitor community-level environmental initiatives and children’s programs to share with the public. At NYU, I was an instructor for Sprout Up, a program that teaches elementary students in NYC public schools about environmental science, sustainability, and stewardship. This has allowed me to share my passion for environmental health with individuals of all different ages and strengthen my educational skills.
In 2019 I was an intern with Forensic Analytical Consulting Services, a firm that focuses on environmental and occupational health. I shadowed certified individuals on surveys, abatements, and emergency response calls, researched and cited material for training courses and course accreditation tests, and input data from lead and asbestos surveys in company computer programs.
Education
I am a New York University graduate with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Public Health. I graduated with Departmental Honors and Cum Laude. My Honors Thesis focused on environmental communications, creating a case study for Beyond Petroleum's Carbon Footprint campaign. I created my own analytical framework to argue that BP used central features of propaganda in their Carbon Footprint campaign.
