Education / Training
About Jacob Patrone:
I am a music educator with experience in New York City public schools, private daycare institutions, and private lessons. As a percussionist and someone deeply interested in Jazz Music, I love bringing that sense of freedom and improvisation to the classroom! I also have skills in audio production/technology, music theory, and bandleading.
Experience
Since August 2021 I have worked with Musical IQ to provide residencies to public school across all 5 boroughs of NYC. These classes are typically 20-30 students aged anywhere from 3-13. The grand scope of the classes is to introduce the students to the music of Africa, and see how it has influenced and changed music all across the globe.
I have also been working with Cocoon, a Learning Club for younger students in Tribeca since January 2022. There, I run Caregiver and Me classes, in which infants/toddlers come with their parents/caregivers to explore and have fun exciting first introductions to music. We play drums, use various percussion, and work on early childhood development alongside fostering a creative and exciting relationship with Music!
All through these teaching opportunities I also have taught privately since 2016. These are typically lessons on drum set, but also extend to general music for young kids.
Education
I have a Bachelors in Fine Arts from The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. I attended from 2016-2020.
