About Ivan Alexander:
Cover Letter
I have recently found my passion for being behind the wheel. In March of 2021, I left the comfort of the office and became an owner/operator of my flatbed hotshot combo (< 26,000 lbs). I seized operations when I was informed at a California’s Department of Transportation weigh station that I needed a Class A Drivers License to operate my rig in the State of California. I had since obtained my Class A and started driving tractor/trailers (53’) for Werner on a Dollar General account. I recently obtained my tanker endorsement and my TWIC card, and plan on getting my doubles and hazmat. I am currently seeking a driving position that will allow we to be home every/most nights, or weekends. I am also willing to do long hauls, with either week on/off or 10 days on/off. I do not have any DUIs, driving suspensions, and accidents.
My previous work experience is intertwined with customer service and customer service training. Military experiences taught me the utmost importance of teamwork and safety. The Ritz-Carlton developed my diplomacy and usage of proper verbiage. Synergy Executive Education utilized my knowledge, wisdom, and professional and life experiences to properly convey relevant ideas and concepts to the business world.
Relevant Work Experience
- Company Driver - Werner Enterprises
February 2023 - Present - Team Driving/Dollar General/Tanker Endorsement
Team Driving for the first 2 months, which required OTR -mostly drop/hooks and occasionally live loads/unloads. I then transferred (upon my request) to a more local driving position, in this case, I was assigned a, 60 to 70 hr week, with hands-on freight utilizing roll-tainers and U-boats, Dollar General account.
- Hotshot Transporter - Owner Operator (OTR - Lower 48 States)
April 2021 – August 2022 - Lower 48 - OTR
Upon acquiring my transportation equipment as an owner/operator I average approximately 10,000 miles a month. My previous work experience taught me the importance of customer service, which I implement upon opportunity in a friendly manner, may it be over the phone, emails, or in-person, or a tracking app. Communication is key. I easily initiate communication and keep my customers abreast of any changes in my arrival time. I realize the dangers of truck driving and the importance of safety. I always don PPE, conduct pre/post trip inspections, and I always over strap my loads. I have navigated my rig through small and/or busy streets within the urban landscapes.
- Box Truck Driver - Royal Cuisine Catering
June 1997 – November 2000 - Santa Ana, CA
As part of the catering staff, I would load the box truck, then drive the truck to random catering sites. I did this without a Class B, and possession of a Class C for only 1 year.
