Iona Fernandez

I am a self-starter, quality focused, analytical, and a detailed oriented CPA, with a passion for numbers.  My extensive experience includes leading a team that oversees the preparation and review of financial statements and recording and analyzing financial accounting data in accordance with GAAP.  I strive to constantly gain efficiency through process improvement and maintain strong internal controls.   I look forward to contributing to the overall goals and vision of the company and the specifically to the accounting and finance department. 

• Oversee preparation and review of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including flux analysis and supplemental schedules to compile 10Q and 10K.
• Lead the day-to-day general ledger accounting activities, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure they are accurate and timely.
• Assist with the preparation for audits and ensure SOX compliance.
• Assists with the cash/treasury function.
• Manage the ASC842 leases, unclaimed property, and fixed assets for the entire company.
• Assist with planning and implementation of accounting software systems that affect the function and its processes.
• Recently involved in the implementation of Tango, for ASC842 – lease accounting   
•  Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to drive operational efficiencies.
• Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements.
• Knowledge and experience in AP, AR, Payroll and GL.  
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and increase efficiency by streamlining processes.
• Manage and lead corporate accounting professionals; provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching.

I am a CPA with a Virginia License.  I also have a master's degree in business administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
