About Ian Childress:
A passionate Technologist since my early pre-teen years. I’ve spent most up my upbringing actively, and passively, growing my skillset and problem solving skills. Hoping to contribute meaningfully to a company with plenty of room for growth and creativity. I specialize in backend logic, working with RESTful API’s. While it may not be my strongest boon; I am very competent with JS and differing frameworks such as Vue and React. Don’t let my age fool you, I may be a young professional, but I bring much more to the table when I work with tools I am innately passionate about.
Experience
CaddyHack⛳️: This full stack web application was developed with one goal in mind. To simplify golfing, whether you find yourself on the competitive or casual side of playing. With features ranging from navigating courses from our API to creating leagues and managing your clubs competitive scene! All while being prioritizing the intuitive feel of our UI/UX.
Solo-led databases📊: I have independently created and implemented countless PostgreSQL schemas for ease of use, clear sorting, and detailed key relation. While some were required, others just being sewn from pure joy of the work! They all have the same level of attention to detail and acute data management throughout!
Command Line Applications💻: While most CLI apps are simple in nature, all of my personal experience with these programs have implemented real world logic such as but not limited to: Real world vending machine, Stat allocator (tweaking some logic from the stats of a video game I play to implement features I would have preferred), and personal quizzes with real percentage calculations and customized correct and incorrect feedback messages.
Education
Choosing the non-traditional route, I participated in a software bootcamp. While I agree with most others, bootcamps can definitely overpromise and underdeliver; however, though the curriculum may have not been the most informative or useful, it taught me a lot in terms of best practices, independent thinking, critical thinking, debugging, and most importantly, HOW to learn moving forward. I took the initial curriculum, kept what I saw was relevant to employers needs and sought newer, more valuable languages and frameworks such as node, react, c#, .net, noSQL, and a few other technologies.
