Hitomi Tanizawa

I graduated the University of Oregon with a major in Human Physiology, and a minor in Global Health. I have been working in health care since 2019, and have built efficient skills that encourages the best patient outcomes. Over the years, I have strengthened my skills on patient communication, providing appropriate medical treatment for patients, working in high stress environments and working effectively with my colleagues. I believe the best patient outcomes stems from the collaborative efforts of health care workers, and creating a safe environment for patients to express their concerns without biases or judgement. 

• American Medical Response (July 2022 - August 2023)
  • EMT-B
    • Delivered first aid and basic life support to 30+ patients per week, evaluating vital signs, symptoms and oxygen levels on scene and during transport.
    • Worked with critical care nurses to provide adequate care for patients who are suffering from strokes, neurological emergencies, breathing problems, immunological emergencies and trauma.
    • Ensured the safe transport of patients and colleagues, including preventative maintenance and safety checks of the ambulance before shift.
• Eye Health Northwest (June 2019 - June 2021)
  • Medical Scribe / Ophthalmic Technician
    • Operated Next Gen system to transcribe medical notes for ophthalmologists during patient exams.
    • Provided quality care to patients including work ups, testing and evaluating medical conditions of up to 20 patients per day.
    • Assisted in in-office procedures and answered patient questions regarding procedures, surgeries, post-op instructions and overall eye health. 
    • Lead communication between coworkers and physicians to ensure effective work environment and patient care.
