Helen Chen

I'm currently a Master's student in Computer Science at Northeastern University, with a focus on developing software solutions that bridge technological gaps. My undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, were in Linguistics, where I garnered a unique perspective on natural language processing and computational linguistics. This academic fusion equips me with a unique lens to approach problem-solving in tech.

Technically, I am skilled in a range of programming languages and tools, including but not limited to Python, Java, C++, and JavaScript. I am also experienced with various IDEs such as Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, IntelliJ, and Python IDLE, enabling me to adapt quickly to different development environments. In terms of databases, I'm well-versed in SQL, adding another layer of competency to my profile.

Beyond my technical skills, I bring a global perspective to my work. Being bilingual in English and Mandarin, with advanced proficiency in Korean and basic understanding of Japanese, I am keen on leveraging my linguistic skills to create more accessible and culturally nuanced technologies. Since June 2023, I have been working on a project called 'LeetCode Progress Tracker,' where I've focused on enhancing the user experience through gamification. I've successfully implemented features such as friend group interactions and various user ranking metrics. Technically, I've been responsible for both backend and frontend development.
