Gweneth Gough

I'm Gweneth and currently am pursuing a degree in Public Relations at the University of South Carolina. Known for my mental health advocacy, I serve and care for those around me. 

I just relocated to St. Pete and am looking for work. Currently looking for a job where I can meet new people and provide excellent service to customers. Between my degree in public relations and minor in retail I provide meaningful interactions with my coworkers and customers. I am knowledgeable and experienced in retail and customer service. 

Using perseverance and innovation I have successfully created the Health Education Act and achieved getting it passed into a law in South Carolina. This law will implement mental health curriculum in our schools and will help the youth in our community. This achievement demonstrates my advocacy, creativity, and compassion for people and the public relations field. I am eager to continue to put my skills to work and impress those around me. My skills include communicating efficiently, strategizing, multitasking, and building successful and lasting relationships in the workplace. In my personal and professional life I value hard work, perseverance, and authenticity. 

Gweneth Gough has led an impressive career as a public relations practitioner before even graduating from college. Gweneth is a currently a senior pursuing her B.A.J.M.C degree at the University of South Carolina. In 2019, she she worked with Representative JA Moore to create the the Health Education Act in South Carolina. By 2020, Gweneth accomplished passing her first law in South Carolina that was passed by General Assembly in 2020 and signed by the governor. Driven by her passion for mental health advocacy, Gweneth takes pride in bringing perseverance and innovation into the world of public relations. Her law, the Health Education Act, calls for mental health education in the 7th and 9th grade. She also created the Safe Space Act, a bill which would allocate greater mental health resources in public schools. Gweneth has landed coverage in print and broadcast outlets in South Carolina, including Count on 2 News, ABC News 4 and the Carolinian.

​During her time working at the public relations firm YBE Kinard Enterprises, Gweneth learned more about what it means to be an advantageous employee and public relations practitioner. In her personal and professional life Gweneth values hard work, authenticity and perseverance. Her values are reflected in her community work as well as in her academic studies. ​

As a public relations major, Gweneth hopes to work as a lobbyist where she would advocate for the betterment of mental health not only for schools, but for society as a whole. When she isn’t studying or working on her next big plan she enjoys traveling and being a dog mom. 

I will have my degree in Public Relations in May 2023. I minored in retail.
