Gloria McIntush

I am a TEFL-certified ESL teacher with extensive experience teaching ESL to Spanish-speaking teens and adults both in-person and online. I am comfortable with working with all skill levels, including low-literacy individuals. I am looking for a full-time teaching position abroad where my passions for learning about the world, gaining intercultural understanding, and empowering others by breaking down barriers of communication can make a meaningful impact.

I am currently employed as a Private ESL Tutor. In this position, I am responsible for developing and updating personalized and unique class materials for each student, including curriculum, lesson plans, and monthly progress assessments as well as all communication and scheduling duties. I have sharpened both my administrative, teaching skills, and course development skills in this position while remaining highly flexible, adaptable, approachable, and organized. 

I gained further teaching and administrative experience in my work with the Brazos Interfaith Immigration Network (BIIN) in Bryan, Texas, first as a dedicated volunteer and later as the English Conversation Class Intern and Program Coordinator. In these positions I gained leadership and management experience through teaching and managing multiple courses of 15+ adult students (mainly hispanic immigrants) for the ESL program. My fluency in Spanish allowed me to connect with my students in this culturally diverse environment and explain in depth complicated grammar functions and the specific cultural nuances around certain words and phrases. 

Aside from the planning and delivering of high-quality, I was able to utilize my organized and detail-oriented nature to perform the administrative tasks and coordinate all the moving parts that keep any course running smoothly: recording attendance and managing class enrollment, coordinating the volunteers for each class, and providing support for and facilitating communication between students, volunteers, teachers, and directors.

In addition to my ESL experience, I worked as an office administrative assistant and teaching assistant during my studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.  In these positions I was responsible for providing rapid and effective communication and answers to questions, organizing and scheduling appointments, and managing paperwork for several different departments. I refined my organization, customer service, and information retrieval abilities in order to provide a high standard to support for each department.

I received a BA in International Studies and a BA in Spanish from Texas A&M University December 2021. I received my TEFL certificate from the International TEFL Academy in April 2022.
