Giselle Tergevorkian

I have experience doing e-commerce copy for fashion and home products.  I want to grow my skills in copywriting plus learn more about other fields such as editing, publishing, and social media.  I graduated from Monclair State University in 2018 with a degree in English with focuses on Journalism and creative writing.  I am passionate about story telling and being creative when it comes to my work.  

I was recently employed at HDS trading corporation, where I wrote marketing content for home products for the e-commerce business through Salsify as the sole copywriter. I wrote titles, bullets points, and descriptions for all products including details such as shape, color, materials, use, and etc.  I also revised old skus that had poor copy from the previous copywriter such as misspellings and inaccurate or wrong information, increasing sales after revisions.  For retailers such as Amazon and Walmart, I wrote different forms of copy for that tailored to their requirements.  I learned how to implement SEO into content by using websites such as Google Analytics and Jungle Scout and using the top performing keywords from searches.  Along with my day-to-day duties, I wrote a few different blogs for our Shopify site about topics such as back to school and football season in order to develop a brand voice and increase social media following.  

I was also employed at TheRealReal where I authenticated pre-owned luxury fashion products for people to buy online and determined if they were authentic or fake by doing necessary research.   I looked at the overall wear of the item and determined if it was in pristine, excellent, or good condition; or in some cases if it had to be rejected.  From there, I took precise measurements of the item, and occasionally determined the size if it was not shown.  After all that was done, I wrote sentence-long descriptions describing the product such as the color, style, material, embellishments and closures. For other items, I did data by filling out the required fields an item had such as the color, designer signature, embellishments, straps, and etc.  Overall I did over 120 products per day, working consistently at a fast pace to overachieve daily goals.  

I had the experience before working full-time of being an editorial intern at The Plunge, where I learned the basics of an online editorial magazine.  I wrote a few articles for the magazine such as “2019 Wedding Trends”, and “Eight Things We Learned About Weddings From How I Met Your Mother”, as well as news pieces.  I became more comfortable with using WordPress by uploading many articles from different writers to the platform.  I helped out with finding good images for articles, along with maintaining the content calendar.  Along with that, I got involved with social media aspects by doing research on various topics such as travel influencers, engagement rings, proposals, and proposal planners to improve certain elements of the site.

I graduated from Montclair State University in May of 2018 with a degree in English with focuses on journalism and creative writing.  In my college years, I have taken many journalism courses such as news reporting, magazine writing, feature writing, and editing. Thanks to these courses, I can write different types of articles that have lengthy content and good structure. I wrote stories that were relevant to my college campus by reporting on people, places, and events.  Although I worked on many projects by myself, I worked with a team on others, and that gave me insight on how to research, write, and edit with others.  Many of the stories had strict deadlines, and that taught me how to pace myself, by organizing my time to do reporting, and the remaining amount of time to put the story together and figuring out where certain details should go.  I can edit stories as well, for consistency and clarity by using mechanics such as AP style, and other relevant tools that include proofreading and libel checking.  Along with writing journalistically, I am also a creative writer as well.  I have taken courses such as poetry writing, creative nonfiction writing, and fiction writing.  I learned many skills for making my writing stronger by using techniques such as imagery, personification, and other elements to have a unique voice for writing. In my spare time I usually like to free write to help improve my skills, and whenever I write, I am always editing and changing my work until I am satisfied.
