Geoffrey Legler

I have been a full-time, uniformed member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard since July 2002. For the past 2.5 years I have been a Safety Officer with the OKARNG's Safety Team. As a Safety Officer, I am involved in the management, administration, and operation of the safety and occupational health program. My daily activities vary, but generally include the development, implementation, and evaluation of safety related training and instructional programs, safety inspections, creating post-inspection reports, photography of safety infractions, as well as consultations with Oklahoma Guardsmen on workplace safety issues. I will retire from the OKARNG on May 31, 2025.

My safety certifications include: Safety, Health & Environmental Professional (SHEP), Certified Safety & Health Official General Industry (CSHO), Specialist in Safety & Health General Industry (SSH), OSHA #501 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry (OSHA 10 & 30), OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry, OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry.

The goal of my work is the reduction, and ultimately the elimination, of human injury, property damage, and productivity losses. These types of incidents are usually mitigated through the creation of effective safety related management policies, programs, and practices.

Since joining the Oklahoma National Guard’s Safety Team, I have completed the Army’s Professional Certificate in Safety and Occupational Health (PCSOH) and have been certified as a Specialist in Safety and Health (General Industry) through the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Safety, Health & Environmental Professional (SHEP), Certified Safety & Health Official General Industry (CSHO), Specialist in Safety & Health General Industry (SSH), OSHA #501 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry (OSHA 10 & 30), OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry, OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry. I have completed more than 20 additional safety courses through UTA.
