Garrett Byrne

My name is Garrett Byrne and I am currently a broadcast freelancer in Florida.
Most of my work is centralized in Tampa, with travel all over Florida depending on the work. I have 4+ years of experience working multiple positions within the sports broadcast ecosystem. These positions include setting up and operating cameras (Sony and Panasonic mostly), using replay machines (Evertz Dreamcatcher, 3play, Envivo), Directing/Technical directing (Ross switchers). While I have around 2+ years with both engineering (setting up signal flow and routing) and audio (Learning Dante, and know to operate some Yamaha digital mixers).

I love working within the broadcast space and seek to intertwined myself more with it.

I have 4+ years of experience working multiple positions within the sports broadcast ecosystem. I started off as mostly a camera operator (Working with 20x-99x lens with mostly Sony and Panasonic camera body's), gained more experience as a replay operator working with mostly an evertz dreamcatcher, as well as a little bit of 3play and envivo. I know how to set up and work with multiple different Ross switchers and to create custom controls as needed for broadcast (setting up replay wipes, splits screens, 2 box, etc.), and with knowing a Ross switcher I have some experience directing sports broadcast.

While these last two years I have also started picking up on more positions such as Audio and engineering. With audio I learned how to set up various mic to fit the need of the show, as well as learning how to route within the dante program (I plan once I get some free time to get dante certified). I currently know the basics of using digital Yamaha mixers like the TF3 and CL5 (such as setting up DCA groups and live mixing a sporting event). Then with being an engineer I have learned a lot about routing and signal flow to get camera through SMPTE cables converted into fiber and then patched over to a control room to be used on a switcher. 
 

I currently work a lot with Gemstone Media as a freelancer at the University of South Florida to help there ESPN+ broadcasts. 

Obtain a Bachelors degree from the university of South Florida in Masscommunication-Broadcast focused in 2022.
