About Fre John-Matis:
Hello,
My name is Fre John-Matis. And I am a youth baseball coach. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, PA and I recently have moved into the Leesburg Florida area for work. I am a college graduate of Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA. I am currently seeking an opportunity to become the member of a baseball team coaching staff in which I can showcase not only my education in business but also my God given talents and experience as a leader of young men and coaching the great game of baseball.
My Athletic accomplishments include being a 2 sport high school athlete in both baseball and football at woodland hills high school in Church Hill, Pennsylvania. Where I was named my baseball teams Co-captain my senior year. I was recruited to play both sports in college but I wanted to focus on baseball as that was the sport in which my passion laid. And I chose to continue my career at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA on a full ride athletic scholarship. I played my way into the lineup as the teams every day 2nd baseman and Utility player. Because of my multi sport background. The coaches seen that my athletic ability allowed me to play in many different positions. I continued to be a fixture on the teams everyday lineup card all the way into my junior year of college when I suffered a complete tear to my lcl ligament in my left knee. And inspight of my rehabbing this injury still as a member of the team. I was never able to return to the form that allowed me to be a starting member of the team and after my graduation in 2004, my baseball playing career ended. I got away from rhe game for a period of time after that. But I returned to coaching and umpiring once my son started to play little league in 2011. I coached his teams from 2011 to 2016 where as a member of a single community coaching staff, we took his team to the junior legion state championship for baseball. After our run I believed I would be done, and allow my son to be coached by the high school coaches. But due to his success, and also my general work thru little league, I was approached to become a the bench coach for the high school in our area. And until 2 years ago, I remained there, even after my son graduated. I since have stepped away from the game again. And I have found that I am missing something in my life. And that is the ability to help mold great young men and great young members of society. Thru teaching them the great sport of baseball. I would be considered a players coach. Although I also have a no nonsense take to setting a standard that has to be lived up to. My knowledge is extensive and my experience is thurough. What I'm looking for now that I'm down here in an area that I do not know. Is an opportunity to show my ability as a coach/assistant coach is something that a small school could take advantage of. I have no grand dilusions of becoming a MLB coach or anything of that nature. But I still have alot to offer this game. And the school or team that decides to take that chance on me. Is going to be rewarded in their players fundamentals and knowledge of the game. I hope also to form some relationships with these players and earn their trust enough to impact their lives in a positive way and help better prepare them for life.
Thank you in advance for your consideration
