I began my career curating an interactive butterfly habitat, where I focused on native plants and sustainable ecological systems. Currently, I maintain the grounds of an arboretum, combining ornamental horticulture with environmentally responsible practices.

I offer hourly services including:

  • Landscape and interior plant design
  • Consultations to create sustainable, habitat-supporting landscapes
  • Horticultural groundskeeping: pruning, planting, watering, weeding, and plant health assessments

Approximate rate: USD$ 40 per hour

Experience

I have over 10 years of hands-on experience in horticulture. I began my career in high school as an assistant to a greenhouse manager, where I gained foundational skills in plant care, propagation, watering, fertilizing, pest and disease management, and general greenhouse maintenance.

After graduating, I worked for nearly five years as a live plant merchandiser at Lowe’s. In this role, I was responsible for creating attractive plant displays to maximize sales while ensuring proper plant health through daily watering, pruning, grooming, spacing, pest and disease inspections, and inventory rotation to maintain quality standards.

During my time at Lowe’s, I also interned at the Baker Arboretum, where I assisted in maintaining ornamental plant gardens. My duties included planting, pruning, fertilizing, watering, soil conditioning, weeding, pest and disease identification and treatment, and supporting overall garden design and aesthetics to align with the arboretum’s landscape plans.

Currently, I work as a curator for an interactive butterfly habitat, where I focus on sustainable gardening practices, native plantings, pollinator habitat creation, and ecological conservation education. Additionally, I am employed as a horticulturist at the Baker Arboretum, where I manage plant diagnostics, provide detailed plant care, and play a key role in planning and maintaining landscape beds to support both aesthetic and environmental goals.

Education

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with a concentration in Horticulture and a minor in Floral Design. I graduated cum laude with a GPA of 3.5. As part of my studies, I completed a program abroad in Costa Rica, where I focused on sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and tropical horticultural systems.

Combined with over 10 years of hands-on experience in greenhouse management, plant merchandising, ornamental horticulture, landscape design, and ecological conservation, my educational background has given me a strong foundation in both the science and artistry of horticulture.
