PCB Design Skills:
I've effectively designed a multitude of PCBs for the energy sector, specifically those that can withstand harsh environments, such as pressures exceeding 25,000 PSI, temperatures above 220C, and conditions of oil immersion. My designs involve strategic planning and utilization of 2~10-layer PCBs, where I carefully consider core, prepreg, and copper layers, materials, material thicknesses, trace impedance, and trace matching.
My designs often require careful grounding schemes that provide superior signal integrity and ADC precision. Notably, I've contributed to the development of innovative shielding schemes, prioritizing the proper flow of return current which has resulted in significant advancements for next-generation cement evaluation electroscopes. In a similar vein, I've iterated upon RF PCB designs for phase discriminators to minimize EMC and improve operational stability. Furthermore, I've created test PCBs with unconventional footprints to assist component performance under extreme conditions.
I've constructed cutting-edge, small form factor switched mode power supplies that utilize low noise layout principles, multi-layer copper cooling, shielding solutions, and common mode noise rejection grounding schemes. In another project, I designed a PCB to deliver high-voltage, high-current signals for a piezoelectric pitch-catch board. For another project, I crafted a 360-degree, two-sided Broadside antenna with exacting physical & electrical attributes.
Schematic Design Skills
I have experience designing and updating multipage hierarchical schematics. I've employed problem-solving skills to design a schematic for a power supply translation processor as a strategic solution to replace out-of-production power units. Additionally, I have developed schematics for a variety of unique testing scenarios, include designing boards for SERDES speed and temperature testing, and shaker board stress testing for evaluating durability and performance of components under simulated conditions.
Additional Skills:
I am adept in digital logic design, and the integration of digital and analog electronics designs. My skill set extends to network analysis and a foundational understanding of electromagnetics. I am experienced in applying these skills to extreme electronics applications and designs. Moreover, I've worked on developments within the energy and oil & gas sector, demonstrating my ability to adapt to various projects and have a proven ability to comprehend complex datasheets and schematics.
