Erica Nelson

I am an arts educator with more than five years of experience teaching K-12, and I possess a deep passion for visual arts. I have worked in both the public and non-profit education sectors. During my five years of teaching, I created curriculums with diverse materials and methods. Some of the courses I have taught include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and photography. My teaching philosophy is rooted in fostering students’ passion for creating through material exploration and a critical understanding of historical and contemporary artistic practices.

In addition to my expertise as an educator, I am a practicing artist and hold a BFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in ceramics. My passion for art making translates both in and out of the classroom; I believe in modeling artistic behavior for my students. My work has been shown in galleries in Utah, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Liverpool, UK.
