About Emily Phillips:

I’m an educator with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Teaching, with experience ranging from kindergarten to upper‑elementary humanities. My journey has taken me from the Disney College Program to teaching in private schools, completing my graduate work online while living abroad, and leading my own classroom.

After welcoming my daughter in 2023, I stepped back from full‑time teaching and discovered how much I value flexibility, creativity, and meaningful work that fits the rhythm of family life. I’m now transitioning into roles that allow me to use my strengths — clear communication, curriculum development, organization, and student‑centered thinking — in a remote or hybrid setting.

I’m especially drawn to opportunities in educational content creation, assessment scoring, virtual administrative support, and EdTech‑aligned roles where I can contribute thoughtfully and independently. I thrive in environments where I can manage my own time, meet deadlines reliably, and produce high‑quality work — even if that means working late at night after my little one is asleep.

If you’re looking for someone who brings heart, professionalism, and a teacher’s eye for detail to every project, I’d love to connect.

Experience

I’ve built my career on a foundation of strong educational practice, leadership, and service. I began working in education while completing my degrees at Liberty University, gaining early classroom experience in both the United States and Japan. During my time in Okinawa, I led an elementary classroom at Pillar Church, creating engaging lessons for 1st–5th graders and supporting a diverse group of learners, including ELL/ESL students.

After earning my bachelor’s degree, I became the lead kindergarten teacher at a private Christian school, where I designed developmentally appropriate instruction, integrated technology, and supported early learners’ academic and social growth. I later served as a permanent site substitute at Mount Airy Elementary, adapting quickly to different classrooms and grade levels while maintaining continuity and student engagement.

In 2022, I stepped into a full‑time role as a 5th‑grade humanities teacher, where I created CCSS‑aligned lessons, used multimedia tools to enhance instruction, and tracked student progress with precision. During this time, I earned distinguished evaluations, improved student outcomes, and received the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Teacher Award.

Alongside my teaching roles, I’ve gained experience as a summer school teacher, private tutor, and volunteer educator, consistently supporting students across a wide range of needs and settings. My background also includes customer‑service experience through the Disney College Program, where I learned to thrive in fast‑paced environments and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Today, I’m drawing on this blend of teaching expertise, curriculum development, communication skills, and organizational strengths as I transition into flexible, remote‑friendly roles within education, content creation, EdTech, and administrative support.

Education

I hold a Master of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Liberty University, where I graduated summa cum laude. My graduate program strengthened my instructional planning, assessment design, and ability to support diverse learners, and it included extensive student‑teaching and practicum experience across multiple grade levels.

I also earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University, completing rigorous coursework in child development, curriculum design, and classroom management. During this time, I gained hands‑on teaching experience in both the U.S. and Japan, which helped shape my approach to inclusive and culturally responsive instruction.

In addition to my degrees, I hold a Post‑Graduate Professional Teaching License in Virginia, endorsed in Elementary Education PreK–6, and I’ve completed professional development through honor societies, leadership programs, and the Disney College Program.
