Emily Nichols

I’m a Master of Public Health candidate in Epidemiology with a background in clinical microbiology and laboratory science. I bring hands-on experience in infectious disease case analysis, statistical programming, and public health surveillance. I support epidemiologic work at the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health and assist an Infectious Disease physician at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, using my lab science expertise to bridge clinical insights with data-driven public health strategies. I’m passionate about using data to improve health outcomes, especially in underserved and high-risk populations.

I have experience in both clinical and public health settings, including infectious disease case analysis, microbiology, and epidemiologic data analysis. I’ve worked with large health datasets using R, SQL, and SAS, contributed to annual mortality reports, supported infection control efforts in hospitals, and led public health projects addressing chronic disease and incarceration outcomes.

I am currently pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at Saint Louis University pending graduation in May 2025, with relevant coursework in biostatistics, epidemiologic methods, data modeling, and public health genomics. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, with extensive training in microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and immunology.
