Elizabeth Henderson

After teaching high school for fourteen years, Hope Henderson is looking to use her sixteen years of experience, seven of being a supervisor, to get back into the medical field. She is highly motivated and adaptable to any situation and sees herself as a forever student, always wanting to learn.

Hope began her career in the US Air Force as a radiologic technologist. Over four years of distinguished and honorable military service, she scheduled and performed x-rays diagnostic and fluoroscopy, maintained files, and resolved issues. Starting as an apprentice in 1994, she moved up to Radiologic Journeyman in 1995 where she continued to provide excellent care to patients until she was honorably discharged in 1998.

Hope settled in Houston after her service where she started working with HealthSouth Corporation as a lithotripsy radiologic technologist. She performed services for 28 different hospitals in the Houston area as part of their mobile unit. Hope liaised with the individual hospital administrations to coordinate paperwork, patient retrieval, and scheduling the overseeing doctors. She ensured lithotripsy procedures were executed in a safe and timely manner, sanitized and carried out minor maintenance for the equipment, and returned patients to the hospital recovery room for aftercare. 

After working with HealthSouth for 3 years, Hope took advantage of an exciting opportunity to further her career and started performing Orthotripsy® with Healthtronics as a market manager. Her coverage area was California, Utah, Arizona, Northern Louisiana, and Houston, Texas training others to perform the procedures as well as running the machine for the podiatrists and orthopedic physicians. During this time, she maintained records for the FDA in order to get the procedure approved. 

Wanting to travel less, Hope took a position at Houston Northwest Medical Center as the weekend supervisor, working two sixteen hour shifts. She not only performed diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures, she ensured all of the patients were properly cared for. From the mundane to the emergent tramas, she would facilitate the proper people who were assigned to the ED, surgery, and outpatient areas for diagnostic procedures as well as help organize on-call procedures for MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Cath Lab, and vascular ultrasound.

Hope moved to southeast Texas in 2011 to be closer to family, where she found that the market for Radiologic technologists was saturated. She embraced her passion for teaching and became a high school science teacher. For the past fourteen years, she has been teaching biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, aquatic science and career and college readiness at Sabine Pass School. Through her hard work and dedication, she maintained over 97% passing rate for all of her students.

With some sadness, Hope is excited for a new adventure in a completely different environment. For Hope’s love of the outdoors and clean environments, Colorado has always been in her heart.
